ROSTARR X RONGROS
Add to my plan
ROSTARR X RONGROS FOR BANGKOK DESIGN WEEK 2020 8TH FEBRUARY 2020 ONWAARDS at Rongros restaurant, an old parking lot on the Chao Phraya River at Tha Maharat Romon K. Yang aka ROSTARR, a multidisciplinary Korean artist from New York, working with painting, abstract calligraphy, large-scale murals and experimental film. Will bring his iconic brushstrokes to Bangkok for the very first time in a specially commissioned mural by Ou Baholyodhin at Rongros restaurant on the Chao Phrya river. Taking over the restaurant’s wall which rests on the river against the backdrop of Wat Arun, ROSTARR will create a mural with brushstrokes that are often described as “gestural” and poetic, at once abstract, minimal and dynamic yet informed by calligraphy and ancient language forms. The mural is to compliment the city’s ancient temple offering a moment to contemplate the unique landscape against ROSTARR’s masterly brushstrokes, the mural, an abstract ode to the great river and temple. A special preview on the 6th will be a work-in-progress session with ROSTARR where one can see him painting live what will become the mural to be unveiled the next day. The mural will be unveiled on February 8th 2020 at Rongros restaurant during Bangkok Design Week 2020 followed by a celebration in the artist’s honour and presence.
