Made in Phranakorn

Made in Phranakorn is a project that brings together creators and veteran shop owners in Phra Nakhon to help develop and design products that address various issues and guide businesses to thrive in the modern era. During Bangkok Design Week 2025, we present the stories of five favorite shops of Phra Nakhon residents, as follows: 1. Made in Phranakorn: Re-scented Pranakorn by Eqlibrum X Nangloy - Nang Loy perfume was a popular body perfume in ancient times. However, because people tend to use it only for traditional ceremonies, such as merit-making ceremonies, ordinations, funerals, or even Songkran, it is often overlooked nowadays. We question whether Nang Loy perfume could be used in other aspects as well. To make it a product for all occasions, we rebrand Nang Loy perfume by experimenting and thinking outside the box in terms of scent and image to raise awareness among the new generation. 2. Made in Phranakorn x Rabbit Tea Shop by Chitsuda Amornsak - Rabbit Tea Shop is a long-standing tea shop on Mahannop Road that has imported tea leaves from China and created its own brand. It was very popular in the past. However, its popularity is declining due to a decreasing old customer base, rising competition, a limited sales model (only tea leaves wrapped in paper), and a lack of communication about the shop's strengths and identity. Therefore, we need to find new approaches to increase interest and add other product formats to expand the consumer group. 3. Made in Phranakorn x Yui Deep-fried Taro Dumplings, Sao Chingcha by Jirayu Pongvarut - Yui Deep-fried Taro Dumplings, Sao Chingcha is a famous shop on Mahannop Road. Jay Yui mainly sells fried taro, fried tofu, and fried radish. The highlight of this place is the unique frying technique that keeps the food hot and crispy all the time. From this uniqueness, other menus can be further developed, helping to increase choices for consumers. 4. Made in Phranakorn x Niyom Phochana, Sao Chingcha by Orbi design - Niyom Phochana, Sao Chingcha is an old shop that is almost a century old, passed down to the third generation. It is one of the delicious shops on Mahannop Road, located in an old Chinese-style shophouse. The outstanding menus are red pork, crispy pork, and pork and beef stew rice, which taste good and are served in large quantities, but lack communication of both the menu and the shop itself. That’s why tourists, foreigners, or people from outside the area may miss out on the must-try menus. Therefore, we aim to make this shop more interesting, especially with memorable menu signs, so that people can easily see and try other menus, in addition to its original red pork rice. 5. Made in Phranakorn x Arkaphan by Aksornsanan - Arkaphan is an old religious supply shop on Mahannop Road, which has been an important area for trading religious supplies and Buddha images since the past. This is because this area is near the community behind the Brahmin temple and Wat Suthat Thepwararam. However, its popularity has declined because only old customers, who know this shop from word-of-mouth communication, come to use the service. Therefore, we try to incorporate a system that helps reach more people and creates a story of a handmade religious offering shop that is different from other shops.
