” When we opened EMPORIUM 20 years ago, art was already a part of our shopping center. With EMQUARTIER, we continued to integrate art into our activities. Now, EMSPHERE is the final piece that completes EM DISTRICT, it becomes even more exciting because this space is designed for the new generation, with art embedded in every floor. That’s when we realized that EM DISTRICT was ready to be a part of Bangkok Design Week.”

Suthavadee Sirithanachai, Vice President – Marketing EM DISTRICT, shared this vision with us, explaining how EM DISTRICT partnered with CEA and The Head and The Heart Studio to launch the Academic Program, offering design students from various institutions a platform to prepare for their transition into the creative industry.

This collaboration resulted in 10 art installations spread throughout EM DISTRICT, starting from Phrom Phong BTS Station and extending through the skywalk into EMSPHERE. K.TUK teased that many of these works not only feature striking visuals and playful concepts but also invite audience interaction.

“Our concept is Here,_____________Everyday. You can fill in the blank however you like because, for many Thais, shopping malls aren’t just for shopping—they are a part of everyday urban life, a place to relax ,connect and inspire.”

During the project’s development, EM DISTRICT brought in Thiranop Wangsilpakun, a concept and graphic design expert from TNOP DESIGN, and Simon Pillard, the creative director behind The Mall Group’s visual art and also Marketing team to mentor the students.

“In the coming years, we hope to lead the Sukhumvit-Phrom Phong area into becoming a full-fledged ART DISTRICT. We believe art should be embedded in everyday life, shaping our society in meaningful ways.”

All 10 installations are set to welcome visitors at Bangkok Design Week 2025 ‘Design Up+ Rising’ from February 8-23, 2025 at EM DISTRICT, the BTS Skywalk, and in the Emsphere shopping mall.
