Urbanyard
Urbanyard
Starting with an aim to solve the problem of large amounts of residual PETE and HDPE plastic waste, this effort eventually grew to one of benefitting and bettering communities.
All of this led to the interactive art wall "Urbanyard". People can freely approach the wall and pick up the upcycled plastic furniture hung upon it to use or adapt as they see fit, whether as a group or individual, in keeping with the New Normal.
The highlight of Urbanyard is that it interacts with users, who can alter the layout of the furniture without limitation. This creates a community space that is both a public and creative area that supports art in the community.
The Sea Conservation Group based in Baan Amphur Na Jomtien Subdistrict, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province is a community enterprise that processes plastic waste.
To help solve the problem of plastic waste on the east coast, the community wants to become a one-stop upcycling community where waste is processed and sold to earn money. It is able to collect 1,140 tonnes of plastic waste per year, of which 18.18 tonnes comes from the fishing industry.
