จรจัดสรร Stand for Strays

Stand for Strays

Stray dogs are a deep rooted problem in Thailand. Each year, the country spends a large amount of money on managing stray dogs, from rabies vaccination and health management to shelter construction. With their increasing number however, support for these efforts remains insufficient and their direct and indirect impacts on society continue, including on the image of communities where they have poor living conditions. Conferences of government and private parties and volunteer groups have sought to find a solution to these issues, mostly focusing on obstructing their reproduction. Done through castration, the neutered animals are still returned to their communities to live in poor conditions, causing issues visually, environmentally and in terms of sanitation. ‘Stand for Strays’ is a project aimed at managing the stray dog problem in communities through the installation of "Small Architecture" serving as temporary shelter. By elevating their living conditions, the shelters create orderliness and provide a place where organizations can focus their aid work. The project is also helping to raise awareness of the stray dog problem while changing mindsets, building cooperation and reducing conflict, supporting a better quality of life for all of society.
